5: Short-term Rental: Blue Lagoon

At the end of a couple weeks running around the UK like a crazy couple, we were ready to relax a bit. (If you don’t take time to chill on a vacation, you just end up coming home from your vacation and needing a vacation.) I’d planned for this, and we had a 1-week layover on the way back in lovely, and quiet, Reykjavík. (This is a free perk of flying Iceland Air, which was my primary airline at the time. Though Iceland Air also owns most of the hotel properties in Iceland, so it’s a bit of a scam. But what isn’t in our modern end-stage capitalistic world.)

Despite the name, Iceland isn’t icy year round. But when it is, like in December while we were there, the air is obscenely clean and clear and so amazingly beautiful. It was a very welcome bit of downtime at the end of the trip. Even if the shower water does smell sulfuric. (It’s a utility the city provides for free I believe, heated by the local volcanos. Hence the smell.)

One of the major attractions is a place called the Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is a natural hotspring and beautifully blue, most of the time, and they’ve definitely made a great resort of it. You can, and I did, partake in a full body massage, while floating in nothing but a swimsuit, on a mat in the hot water. It’s like the world’s best hot bath with a side of brain-melting massage. And when they are finished, they just push you out into the lagoon to relax and nap.

The one amusing element of this is that I hadn’t told The Rental to bring a swimsuit. And so she had to borrow one from the venue. So there she is, herself a rental, wearing a one-piece swimsuit embroidered “For Rent Only”. The irony of the stitched message had us cracking up a little bit, and we made sure to get pictures of her in it before we left.

And after this, she returned to the wastelands with her dom, with new boots, the latex dress, enough money for a few months rent, and having been fucked into a puddle every night.
